Features and Benefits

Natural diamonds, abbreviated as ND, are naturally formed within the earth at high-pressure and high-temperature conditions. Because of its extremely rigid lattice, it can be contaminated by a few types of impurities such as boron and nitrogen.

Esteves Group offers diamond drawing dies with natural diamond (ND) blanks inside as a high quality and durable product for drawing ferrous and non-ferrous wires .00028-.0787” (0.007 to 2.00 mm). Smaller and larger sizes are available by request.

Like all products from Esteves Group are these products manufactured with the highest quality and accuracy standards.

The ND blanks that Esteves Group uses are all selected for purity and limited inclusions, flattened on a special lapping machine, and sorted in different groups of height and diameter combinations

Applicability and Product Use

Natural diamond (ND) has been used as a raw material for drawing dies for over 100 years and ND dies were the first type of drawing dies that were manufactured by the Esteves Group (since 1913).

Natural diamond dies are used for applications that require excellent wire surface qualities, high heat resistance, and in applications that require a die material that is not electrically conductive.

ND dies are frequently used for drawing:

  • Tungsten filament wire
  • Bonding wire (gold, copper, aluminum)
  • Medical wire
  • Stainless steel wire
  • Copper wire
  • EDM wire
  • Special alloy and high-performance alloy wire
  • Precious metal wire
  • Various other ferrous and non-ferrous metal wire types

Natural diamond can be chosen as a raw material for the following products from Esteves Group:

  • Wire drawing dies
  • Bunching, Stranding and Compacting dies
  • Extrusion tools
  • Burnishing dies
